Note | http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/HAINAUT.htm REGINAR [II], son of REGI NAR [I] "Langhals/Longneck" Graf im Maasgau & his wife Alberade --- ([ 885/900]-932 or after). The ''Annales Hanoniæ'' name "Raginerus" as s on of "Raginerus dictus Longi-colli" [1]. Flodoard names "Ragenarii, f ratris ipsius Gisleberti" [2]. Charles III "le Simple" King of the Wes t Franks restored Kloster Süsteren to the abbey of Prüm by charter d ated 19 Jan 916 which names "fidelium nostrorum… Widricus comes pala tii, Richuuinus comes, Gislebertus, Matfridus, Beringerius comites, Th eodericus comes, Reinherus comes, Erleboldus" [3]. A document date d 7 Nov 921 recording a meeting between King Charles III "le Simple" a nd Heinrich I King of Germany names "Matfredus, Erkengerus, Hagano, Bo so, Waltkerus, Isaac, Ragenberus, Theodricus, Adalardus, Adelelmus" a s representatives of the former [4]. It is not certain that "Ragenberu s" refers to Reginar [II] Comte de Hainaut. Flodoard's ''Annals'' reco rd that "Berengarius" captured "Giselbertum" and only freed him afte r receiving "filiis Ragenarii fratris ipsius Gisleberti" as hostages , after which Giselbert ravaged the lands of "Berengarii, Ragenariiqu e fratris sui et Isaac comitis" [5]. The primary source which confirm s that Reginar [II] was Comte de Hainaut has not yet been identified . "Otto… imperator augustus" confirmed the donations to the conven t of Nivelles by "Regenarius comes" of property "in pago Ardenna supe r fluvia Aisna in comitatu Waudricia in villa Villaro" and by "predict i Regenarii filius nomine Liechardus in pago Hasbanensi in villa Gingo lonham", by "Rodolphus comes villa Lentlo", by "Hillinus… in villa |
