The 12th century ''Cronica Regum Scotto rum'' names "Malcolaim filii Donnchada" in one of its lists [4]. The C hronicon of Marianus Scottus records that "Moelcol… filius Donchael " succeeded Lulach in 1058 [5]. [Florence of Worcester records that "d ux Northhymbrorum Siwardus" defeated "rege Scottorum Macbeotha" in bat tle, dated to 1054, and installed "Malcolmum regis Cumbrorum filium" i n his place [6]. The ''Annales Dunelmenses'' record that "Siwardus" pu t "Macbeth" to flight in 1054 and installed "Malcolmum rege" in the fo llowing year [7].
