The ''Genealogiæ Scriptoris Fusniacensis'' refers t o a sister of "comes Rainaldus" as husband of "Gillebertus, filius Ric hardi Anglici" [1]. Guillaume de Jumièges records that the wife of Gi lbert was the daughter of the Comte de Clermont [2]. "Hadalaidis fili a Hugonis de Claromonte… uxor Gisleberti de Anglia" founded an anniv ersary at Saint-Leu d´Esserent, like the anniversaries of "patris su i Hugonis et matris sue Margarite", by undated charter [3]. Her secon d marriage into the Montmorency family is confirmed by the charter dat ed under which Robert Bishop of Lincoln confirms previous donations t o Thorney, including one by “Adelidæ de Montemoraci” of “…ter ræ in Randa quas Turgisius tenuit et Toui prius dederat” [4], whic h clearly refers back to the earlier undated charter under which “Ad eliz, uxor Gilberti filii Ricardi, et Gillebertus et Walterus et Balde winus et Rohaisia pueri Gilberti” donated property “quod Tovi dedi t… et in Randa… quas Turgisius tenebat” to Thorney Monastery [5] . The precise identity of Adelisa´s second husband has not yet been c onfirmed. According to Duchesne, Adelisa´s second husband was Hervé , son of Bouchard [III] Seigneur de Montmorency and his second wife, b ut he cites no primary source on which this statement is based [6]. A s noted below, the first marriage of Mathieu [I] de Montmorency, who w ould have been Hervé´s older half-brother born from their father´ s first marriage, is dated to [1126]. This suggests the birth of Mathi eu [I] in [1095/1105]. If that estimated date range is correct, any ha lf-brothers born from his father´s second marriage would probably hav e been too young to have married Adelisa. In addition, given Adelisa´ s prominent family background and first marriage, it is unlikely tha t her second husband would have been the younger son of the seigneur d e Montmorency. As Adelisa had several children by her first husband, s he would have been considerably older than her second husband if he ha d been a younger son of Bouchard [III]. A more likely case is that Ade lisa´s second husband was Bouchard [III] himself, whose age and posit ion would have been more appropriate for the marriage.
