"Wauterii comitis, Walterii et Rad ulfi filiorum eius" subscribed a charter dated 975 under which "Hugo F rancorum dux" restored the abbey of Saint-Jean to the abbey of Sainte- Croix d'Orléans [1]. A charter of "Hugo… Francorum rex" confirmin g the privileges of the monastery of Corvey dated 987 is subscribed b y "Walteri comitis Ambianensis ac filiorum eius Walteri, Gotfredi, Rod ulfi" [2].
