T he ''Vita Adelheidis'' names "Irminthrudis, Alverad [et] Berthrada" a s the three sisters of Adeleid, daughters of "Megengoz" & his wife, sp ecifying that Irminthrudis was grandmother of "Heinrici magnifici duci s et Adhelberonis Metensis episcopi, Friderici ducis" [''Vita Adelheid is abbatissæ Vilicensis'' 3, MGH SS XV.2, p. 757]. Her birth date ran ge is estimated from the birth date of her mother. The Memorial of "Me gendaudus… Gerbirga marito" also names "Irmendrudis", recording tha t she was born with them, presumably indicating that she was their dau ghter, with the name "Adelheidis abbatissa" recorded at the end out o f context [MGH ''Poetæ Latini medii ævi'', V.1, ''Die Ottonenzeit, G rabschriften'', p. 306]. |
