| Nota | http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/NORMAN%20NOBILITY.htm AMAURY de Montf ort, son of SIMON Seigneur de Montfort-l'Amaury & his third wife Agnè s d'Evreux (-[18/19] Apr [1137/38], bur Abbaye de Haute-Bruyère). Hi s parentage is recorded by Orderic Vitalis [1]. He succeeded his broth er after [1104] as Seigneur de Montfort-l'Amaury. Orderic Vitalis reco rds that, after the death of his maternal uncle Guillaume "Crespin" Co mte d'Evreux, Amaury claimed the succession but Henry I King of Englan d "took the county of Evreux into his own hands" because he "had forfe ited the king's favour by his effrontery" [2]. He led a major rebellio n and captured the town of Evreux [3]. King Henry besieged the castl e but the two parties were reconciled by King Henry's nephew Thibaut C omte de Blois [4], when Amaury succeeded as Comte d'Evreux. The necrol ogy of Saint-Père-en-Vallée records the death "19 Apr" of "Amauricu s princeps de Monteforti" [5]. The necrology of Haute-Bruyère lists m embers of the Montfort family who are buried in the abbey, starting wi th "conte Amaury… qui premier fonda l'eglise, dou fil le conte Simo n le Chauf qui gist a Evreux" [6].
