A manuscri pt history of the Lacy family names “Johannem, secundum constabulari um, et comitem Lincolniæ” as son of Roger and his wife “Matilda m de Clare” [2]. He was created Earl of Lincoln in 1232. A manuscrip t history of the Lacy family records the death “XI Kal Aug 1240” o f “Johannes de Lacy primus comes Lincolniæ” and his burial “apu d Stanlaw” [3].
