http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLISHNOBILITYMEDIEVAL3.htm PHILIP [ I] de Briouse ([1060/70]-[1131/39]). A charter dated 1073 recorded th e donation by "Braiosa Willelmus" to St Nicholas of Bramber, confirme d by "Phylippo filio eius" [1]. His birth date is estimated very appro ximately from the first mention of his son which is dated to [1096]. I f it is correct, as suggested above, that the wife of Guillaume [I] d e Briouse was a Norman, it is likely that his son Philip was born in N ormandy before the conquest or in England soon afterwards. “Willielm us de Braiosa” founded Sele Priory, with the consent of "Philippo fi lio meo unigenito", by charter dated 30 Jan [1075], later confirmed b y "Philippi concessit uxor eius Aanor et Willielmus filius suus" by ch arter dated 5 Jan [no year] [2]. The Chronicle of Battle Abbey record s that "Willelmus cognomento de Braiosa" donated property to Battle ab bey, later confirmed by "Philippus de Braiosa, coram patre suo Willelm o prædicto" [3]. A charted dated 11 Dec 1093 records the dedication o f the church of Saint-Gervais de Briouze and the confirmation by "Guil lelmus de Braiosa… et Philippi filii sui… Guillelmus… de Crenell a nepos ipsius" [4]. "Phylippus de Braiosa" confirmed all the donation s to Saint-Florent de Saumur by "pater suus Willelmus" by charter date d before 1096, witnessed by "Willelmus filius Baderonis et Paganus fra ter Rius…" [5]. "Philippus de Brausia" confirmed the donations to th e church of Saints Gervais et Protais de Briouze, by "pater eius Guill emus de Brausia", before leaving for Jerusalem, by charter dated 5 Ja n [1096], with the consent of "uxor eius Aanor et Guillelmus filius su us" [6]. “Philippus de Braosa” confirmed agreement with the abbe y of Fécamp by charter dated 13 Jan 1103 which names "Willielmus Phil ippi pater", and is witnessed by “ex parte Philippi, Robertus frate r eius, Anchetilli filius...” [7]. The Annals of Waverley record tha t “Philippus de Brausa et Willelmus Malet et Willelmus Barnard et He lias comes Cenomanniæ” were deprived of their lands in 1110, a late r passage recording that Philippe de Briouse was restored in 1112 [8] . A charter dated 1121 confirmed the possessions of Lewes Priory inclu ding the donation of "…Brebra salinas…" by "Ph de Braiosa" [9]. Th e 1130 Pipe Roll records "Philippo de Braiose" in Sussex [10].
