According to D u Chesne in 1625 [2], she was Ermengarde, daughter of Richard "le Just icier" Duke of Burgundy. More recently this affiliation has been chall enged, in particular because she is not mentioned in her supposed moth er's will [3]. In addition, if it is correct that Giselbert's mother w as the daughter of King Boso, she would have been her husband's firs t cousin, which seems unlikely to have been accepted by the church. "G islebertus… comes Heduensis" granted property to "suo fidele Guitbal dus… nec non eius coniuge Rutrudis" by charter dated 11 Dec 934, sig ned by "Gisleberti comitis, Ermengardi, Adaledis filiam eorum…" [4] .
