Nota

http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/BAVARIAN%20NOBILITY.htm The possessio ns of the Bavarian family of the Grafen von Andechs originally lay bet ween the upper Lech and upper Isar rivers. They later added land in Fr anconia, Tyrol, Carinthia and Istria [Jordan, K., trans. Falla, P. S . (1986) ''Henry the Lion: a Biography'' (Clarendon Press, Oxford), p . 131]. In 1180, Emperor Friedrich I "Barbarossa" dissolved the vassa l relationship between the Grafen von Andechs, as marchesi of Istria a nd Carniola, with the dukes of Bavaria [Jordan (1986), p. 176]. Afte r the death of Konrad III Graf von Dachau in [1180/82], the Grafen vo n Andechs were installed as dukes of Merano. BERTHOLD [von Diessen] , son of ARNOLD Graf von Diessen & his wife Gisela --- (-27 Jun 1151 , bur Diessen). The parentage of Berthold Graf von Andechs is deduce d from the list of names in the ''De Fundatoribus Monasterii Diessense s'' and because Konrad von Diessen ("Chonradus de Iagobesberg") is des cribed as his patruus. It is confirmed by the necrology of Diessen rec ording the death "Feb VI Id" of "Arnoldus com sepultus Atile pater com itis Bertoldi fundatoris nostri" [''Necrologium Diessense'', Augsbur g Necrologies, p. 7]. On the other hand, the necrology of Diessen reco rds the death "Feb XVI Kal" of "Irmilgardis, mater domini Perchtoldi " [''Necrologium Diessense'', Augsburg Necrologies, p. 7], although i t is not certain to which Berthold this refers. Graf von Andechs 1106/ 1113. "Perhtoldus Comes et eius patruus Chonradus de Iagobesberg" dona ted a serf to Weihenstefan monastery, dated to [1097/1114] [''Monument a Weihenstephania, Codex Traditionum VI, Monumenta Boica'' Vol. IX, p . 378]. Graf von Diessen: "Berhtolfus Comes de Diezzen" donated serf s to Diessen monastery, in the presence of "uxore sua Sophia et filii s suis Poppone et Bertolfo" [''Monumenta Diessensia, Codex Traditionum , I, Monumenta Boica'' Vol. VIII, p. 131]. Graf von Plassenberg und vo n Stein 1130. The ''Notæ Diessenses'' record the death "1151 V Kal Iu l" of "Berhtoldus comes", specifying that he was "conversus nostræ co ngregationis frater" and "fundator huius loci", and was buried "in cap itolio" [''Notæ Diessenses'' 1151, MGH SS XVII, p. 324].
