The ''Historia Welforum'' refers to the four daughters of "Sophia e x duce Maginone", specifying that "terciam…duxit dux Maravie, quarta m quam Egenhardus comes de Scirin a quodam monaterio…in Ratispona ab stulit" [''Historia Welforum Weingartensis'' 15, MGH SS XXI, p. 463] . It is clear from many other sources that Sophia and her second husba nd Magnus of Saxony only had two daughters, Wulfhild and Eilika. It i s assumed therefore that the two other daughters referred to were he r children by her first marriage with Ulrich of Istria, although the p rimary source which confirms this clearly has not yet been identified . While there appears to be some confusion in this text, it does clari fy that the daughter of Sophia of Hungary married Graf Ekkehard not hi s brother Graf Otto, the latter being favoured by Wegener [Wegener (19 65/67), p. 248]. The primary source which names her has not yet been i dentified, although the necrology of Undensdorf records the death "XI I Kal Jun" of "Wichart coma" [''Necrologium Undensdorfense'', Freisin g Necrologies, p. 172] which may refer to Richgard. |
