Nota

http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/LOTHARINGIAN%20(UPPER)%20NOBILITY.ht m No proof has been found of the paternity of Richard and his brothe r Gerhard. However, the Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines provi des some interesting support for the affiliation shown here by recordi ng "comes Hugo de Daburg, pater sancti Leonis pape" as "consobrinus" o f "imperator Conradus"[575]. If Liutgarde, supposed paternal grandmot her of Richard and Gerhard, married twice as shown above, Hugo [VI] Gr af von Egisheim would have been second cousin once removed of Empero r Konrad, the emperor being the great-grandson of Liutgarde by her fir st marriage, Hugo being her grandson by her first marriage. Either Ri chard or Gerhard was father of, although the primary source on which t his is based has not yet been identified. ([950/55] [Birth date rang e estimated from the likely birth date ranges of his father and his po ssible daughter Adelheid]-after 986). Graf [von Metz]. 982. Nephew o f Wicfrid Bishop of Verdun, although the primary source on which thi s is based has not yet been identified, nor the precise nature of th e relationship. "Varneri comitis, Richardi comitis…" witnessed the c harter dated 986 under which Gérard Bishop of Toul donated the churc h of Andelier to the abbey of Saint-Mansuy [Calmet (1748), Tome II, Pr euves, col. ccxlii]
