One manuscript of the ''Gesta Treverorum'' names "Waldradam soror em… Guntheri Coloniensis archiepiscopus" when recording her adultero us relationship with King Lothaire II [1]. The ''Cæsarii Heisterbacen sis Catalogus'' of archbishops of Köln records that the concubine o f "Lotharius" was "Waldradam, sororem Guntheri archiepiscopi Coloniens is" and that her brother encouraged Lothaire to leave his legitimate w ife for Waldrada, for which he was excommunicated by the Pope [2]. Th e ''Annales Novesienses'' record that “Guntherus episcopus Coloniens is” had “sororem… Vastradam… aliis Waldradam” whom “dux Lo tharingiæ Lotharius… superdixit” after her brother approved his d ivorce from “legitima uxore Tyberga” [3]. According to Baron Ernou f [4], Gunther archbishop of Köln was uncle of Waldrada and Thetgau d archbishop of Trier was her brother, but the primary source on whic h this is based has not yet been identified. The ''Annales Bertiniani' ' names "Hlotharius Waldradam concubinam" when recording that Lothair e purported to marry her in 862 and crowned her with the support of "L iutfrido avunculo suo et Waltario" [5]. Waldrada was also related to t he Etichonen Grafen im Nordgau, as shown by the ''Vita Sancti Deicoli' ' which names "Waldrada…Heberardo comitis consanguinitatis" [6], bu t the precise relationship is not known. Folcuin records King Lothaire 's excommunication after repudiating his wife for Waldrada [7]. King L othaire purported to marry Waldrada in [Aug/Sep] 862 and crowned her a s Queen, but this was not recognised by the church [8]. She became a n un at Remiremont.
