According to ''Europäisc he Stammtafeln'' [ES II 182], their father was named Manuel Laskaris , but this would be inconsistent with the normal naming convention i n Byzantine noble families under which sons are not named after thei r fathers [Morris Bierbrier, in a private email to the author dated 1 8 Jan 2007]. The same source names their mother "Ioanna (Karatzas, Pho kaina)" but the source on which this is based has not yet been identif ied. |
