| Nota | '''Vincentian Encyclopedia - From VincentWiki''' He was sent to Lyons , France, in 1506 to look after the family's business affairs there. H e remained in France, married a noblewoman in 1516, and bought a seign iory in 1521. He became a banker, a large property owner in Lyons, wa s active in political affairs, and was eventually employed by both th e church and the throne as a financial agent. In 1533, when Catherin e de Medici passed through the city of Lyons after her recent marriag e to Henry of Valois, she took Antoine into her service as maitre d'ho tel for her husband, at that time the Dauphin of France. Antoine retai ned this position when Henry became King of France (Henry II), with Ca therine as Queen. Henry II and Catherine de Medici were the parents o f Marguérite de Valois who later figured in Vincent de Paul's life wh en he first came to Paris. Antoine died in 1560 in Paris, a nobleman a nd a courtier. His children remained in France |
