HENRY DE BEAUMONT, 5th baron, who received the honour of knighthood a t the coronation of King HENRY IV; and in the 11th of the same monarch ’s reign, was constituted one of the commissioners to treat of peac e with France. His lordship m Elizabeth, dau. of William Lord Willough by de Eresby, and had issue, JOHN, his heir. Henry, from whom the Beau monts of Wednesbury, in the co. Stafford, descended. Lord Beaumont, wh o had been summoned to parliament from 25 August, 1404, to 22 March, 1 413, d. in the latter year, and was s. by his eldest son, JOHN DE BEA UMONT, 6th baron, a very distinguished personage in the reign of HENR Y VI, and high in that monarch’s favour, under whom he enjoyed the m ost lucrative and honourable employments, and in whose service he even tually laid down his lift. In the 14th of King HENRY (1436-6) his lord ship obtained by letters patent, to himself and his heirs male, the Ea rldom of Boloine, being at that time upon his march for the relief o f Calais, and in four years afterwards, 12 February, 1440, he was crea ted Viscount BEAUMONT (being the first person dignified with such a ti tle), with precedency above all barons of the realm, and with a yearl y fee of 20 marks out of the revenues of the co. Lincoln. His lordshi p received, subsequently, a patent of precedency (23rd HENRY VI) abov e all viscounts thenceforth to be created; and in five years afterward s was constituted Lord High Chamberlain of England. The viscount final ly lost his life at the battle of Northampton, fighting under the Lanc astrian banner, on 10 July, 1459. His lordship was a knight of the Gar ter, and had been summoned to parliament, in the Barony of BEAUMONT, f rom 26 February, 1432, to 26 September, 1439. He had m. Elizabeth, onl y dau. and heiress of Sir William Phelip, Lord Bardolf; by whom he lef t, William, his successor. Joane, m. to John, Lord Lovel, of Tichmersh , and dying before her brother, left a son (who succeeded as Lord Love l, but d. without issue,) and two daus., viz., 1 Joane, m. to Sir Bria n Stapleton, of Carlton, Knt, from which marriage lineally descended M iles Thomas Stapleton, Esq., of Carleton, who established his co-heirs hip to the Barony of Beaumont, and was summoned by writ to the Hous e of Peers 16 October. 1840. He was b. 4 June, 1806, and d. 1854, ha ving m. 9 September, 1844, the Hon. Isabella Browne, dau. of Lord Kilm aine, by whom he had issue,
