"Rain aldus comes Nivernensis" donated property "Belmontis" to Cluny, for th e souls of "Landrici patris mei… [et] Matildis matris mee et uxori s mee Advise et filiorum meorum qui presentes sunt… fratris mei Wido nis et Rotberti et Walterii, Gilberti, Abonis, Hiterii, Hugonis, Richa rdi, Girosi" by charter dated to [1028/40], subscribed by "filii eoru m Willelmi" [2]. "Landrici comitis, Rainaldi filii eius et uxoris eius , Widoni et uxoris eius Acherada… Rodberti filii Gibaldi" subscribe d the charter dated Jun 1023 under which "Gibaldus" donated property t o Cluny [3]. He succeeded his father in 1028 as Comte de Nevers. The ' 'Origine et Historia Brevi Nivernensium Comitum'' records that "[comes ] Nivernis" was killed by the duke of Burgundy "apud Saigniacum" [4] . Rodolfus Glaber records that he was "daringly assassinated… by a k night of lowly birth" [5]. The ''Annales Nivernenses'' record the deat h in 1040 of "Ragenaldus comes, Landrici comitis proles" [6]. The necr ology of Mâcon Cathedral records that "Raynaldus Nivernensis comes" w as killed "IV Kal Jun" [7].
