His parentage is confirmed by the charter dated 18 Nov 1050 und er which Pope Leo IX donated property to Heiligenkreuz Kloster in Woff enheim, near Egisheim, naming "patris mei Hugonis et matris meæ Heilw igdis, amborumque fratrum meorum Gerardi et Hugonis… am defunctorum " and "nepoti meo Heinrico, castrum Egensheim" [1]. Graf von Dachsburg . m MATHILDE, daughter of ---. Pope Leo IX donated property to the abb ey of Hesse by charter dated to [1050] which names “patrueles nostro s comites Mathfridum et bonæ memoriæ Gerhardum, eiusque uxorem... Cu nizam... fratrem nostrum Hugonem... domnæ Mathildis [...uxoris fratri s nostri Hugonis prædicti] et filii eius Henrici nostri quondam nepot is” who was buried at the abbey and “pater noster Hugo” [2]. Car utti identifies her as Mathilde, daughter of Conrad I King of Burgund y & his second wife Mathilde de France [Carolingian], but he cites n o primary source on which this hypothesis is based [3].
