| Note | Cresimato il 15 maggio 1595. Ereditò dal padre un lascito di tremil a scudi. Fece testamento il 4 luglio 1648 (notaio Giovanni Antonio Loc atelli). [dalla scheda a cura di Luisa Vertova ne I pittori bergamasc hi – Il Seicento II, p. 570, 682] Bergamo, collezione privata Firmat o e datato 1650. L’iscrizione apposta in alto, accanto allo stemma P esenti con l’aquila e la stadera, fornisce la data dell’effigi e e l’identità dell’effigiato: «IOHANNES FILIUS FRANCISCI DE PES ENTIS ANNO A NATIVITATE DOMINI MDCL». In basso, a sinistra, si legg e la firma «CARLO CERESA». Il Giovanni qui effigiato era nato nel 15 88, dopo che suo padre Francesco, rimasto vedovo, era convolato a nozz e con Elena Correggi. All’epoca del ritratto, aveva quindi sessantad ue anni. Il Ceresa lo presenta seguendo uno schema abituale: mano sini stra che tocca il messale posato sul tavolo, pugno destro sul fianco , in atto di stringere il cappello nero. Ma la testa che sovrasta il s olito abito nero e bianco, stagliandosi sui bigio fondale - una test a intonata alla stessa assenza di colore per i capelli canuti, il pizz etto brizzolato, i baffi e i sopraccigli neri - ha due occhi volitiv i che non si dimenticano.
