"Mathilde et Alberada" are named as daughters of "Gerberga " in the Continuator of Flodoard, which specifies that Mathilde was mo ther of "Rodulfus rex et Mathildis soror eius" [Flodoard Addit code x 1 (inserted after 966), MGH SS III, p. 407]. Her brother, Lothaire K ing of the West Franks, arranged this marriage to strengthen his posit ion in south-eastern France. Her dowry consisted of the counties of Ly on and Vienne [McKitterick, R. (1983) Frankish Kingdoms under the Caro lingians 751-987 (Longman, London and New York), p. 322]. The Aymari R ivalli De Allobrogibus records the death "VI Kal Dec" of "Mathildis ux or regis Conradi" and her burial at Vienne [De Allobrogibus VI, p. 382 ].
